Protect the Two Most Vulnerable Electronic Modules in Your Mercedes Sprinter:

EIS Ignition Module and CPC Central Gateway Module

Applicable to: 2019-2026 Model Years, both gas and diesel engines, Left & Right side steering wheel

Ignition Module (EIS/EZS)

Sprinter owners know the horror stories:

Driving home, parked overnight, or in the middle of nowhere — suddenly the van throws:

"DO NOT SHIFT GEARS"

Error message

And you're stuck.

In many cases, the problem starts with moisture entering the ignition module. This unit sits low on the left kick panel and controls key communication, immobilizer, and module authorization.

Ignition module location

It's basically the gateway brain of the van.

And Mercedes didn't waterproof it.

Module diagram Failed module

If moisture gets inside, the module fails, and there is no repair option.

Replacement often costs $2,000+ and can leave you waiting days or weeks to get back on the road — even with insurance.

CPC Module (Central Powertrain Controller)

The CPC is one of the main communication hubs in the Sprinter platform, responsible for managing and routing critical CAN bus communication between drivetrain, transmission, engine, ABS, ESP, and multiple control units throughout the vehicle.

Together, the EIS and CPC form a unified gateway communication network for the van.

And just like the EIS, the CPC module is not waterproof in any way.

Water intrusion, condensation, or accidental spills can easily reach the module area and potentially cause corrosion, communication failures, no-start conditions, transmission lockout messages, and expensive repairs.

Whether you use your Sprinter for work, travel, camping, or off-road adventures - electronics mounted low in the cabin remain vulnerable.

A single water event can leave you stranded and lead to thousands of dollars in repairs, programming, towing, and downtime.

The CPC Shield adds an extra layer of protection where Mercedes should have added one from the factory.

Mercedes' fix?

A thin plastic bag that doesn't fully cover the module, doesn't seal wiring, and doesn't hold up to real-world conditions.

Ignition Module and CPC Shields

Bought the Ignition Module and CPC shields. Had a few questions during the install, and Elaina and Vitaliy were responsive and helpful. Products seem solid and I have that peace of mind now that moisture/condensation intrusion won't create electronic issues and big repair bills!

Thank you kindly, Robert, for your feedback! We are glad Elaina & Vitaliy were responsive and helpful. Moisture/Condensation protection - that's what we aim for with the Ignition Module and CPC Covers. Enjoy the upgrade and peace of mind! We appreciate You!

2nd Gen EIS product

Installed this on a 2022 Sprinter 3500HD Cab Chassis RV and it was Plug & Play (actually press, click & play). The product is well made. If you’ve never disassembled your Sprinter under-dash area, I recommend you watch their videos 1st to prevent breaking something like the OBD connector. Custom Service is Excellent!!!

Thank you kindly for taking the time to share this, and we’re really glad to hear the install went smoothly on your 2022 3500HD Cab Chassis. “Press, click & play” is exactly what we aim for, so it means a lot to hear that from someone working under the dash of an RV build.
We also appreciate you pointing folks toward the videos — that under‑dash area can be tricky the first time, and we try hard to make the process as stress‑free as possible.
And thank you for the shout‑out on customer service. We’re always here to help keep your Sprinter protected and your travels comfortable. Enjoy the peace of mind out on the road!

My installer said it is a great product to protect the ignition module. However, when using with Mid-City Engineering Remote Start the wires were not long enough to allow us to put the top piece on, which would have the water roll off. Instead, ended up placing a plastic bag where the top piece should have gone.

Thank you so much for the feedback, and we’re really glad to hear your installer liked the product. The Mid‑City Engineering remote‑start harness can sit tighter than OEM on some vans, which sometimes reduces the clearance needed for the top water‑shield piece. They also have different connectors, which we then have to customize based on the customer's needs.

We definitely don’t want you relying on a plastic bag for long‑term protection. If you reach out to us, we’d be happy to take care of this for you — we can either take a quick look at a photo of your setup and send you a modified version of the water shield that’s designed to fit your installation. We look forward to hearing from you.

I received your product and installed

I received your product and installed. Wanted to give an additional heads up that there was some fitment issues. Due to a ground stud location I was unable to use the original mount studs. The stud contacted the top wire cover before the module would more forward enough to enable the top mount stud. I was able to move the module towards the aft and mount with some screws. I would provide pics but honestly they don’t show it very well. Just letting you know as a heads up that sometimes there maybe mounting stud discrepancies.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share this. Your note about the ground stud interference is really helpful — Sprinters do have some small variances from year to year, and it sounds like yours had the stud positioned just far enough forward to affect the top mount alignment. We are glad you were still able to get everything secured by shifting the module, and we appreciate you flagging the discrepancy so we can keep refining the fitment guidance. Now you can have peace of mind knowing your ignition is protected from moisture. Take care!
