V1.2 (Enhanced Water Intrusion Protection) UPDATED DESIGN 

Sprinter owners know the horror stories:

Driving home, parked overnight, or in the middle of nowhere — suddenly the van throws:

"DO NOT SHIFT GEARS"

And you're stuck.

In many cases, the problem starts with moisture entering the ignition module. This unit sits low on the left kick panel and controls key communication, immobilizer, and module authorization.

It's basically the gateway brain of the van.

And Mercedes didn't waterproof it.

If moisture gets inside, the module fails, and there is no repair option.

Replacement often costs $2,000+ and can leave you waiting days or weeks to get back on the road — even with insurance.

Mercedes' fix?

A thin plastic bag that doesn't fully cover the module, doesn't seal wiring, and doesn't hold up to real-world conditions.

We see these failures in the shop — so we built a real solution.

Our UPDATED design

During extended real-world testing, we pushed the system further.

After deliberately introducing a controlled volume of water during testing (over 5 gallon), we identified two additional potential moisture entry paths that are not addressed by factory protection:

Wiring socket exposure
Water can migrate toward the module through the wiring socket area if the wiring socket is not fully shielded.

Stud thread relief cuts
The factory mounting studs use relief cuts rather than uniform threads. Under certain conditions, moisture can travel inward through these cuts.

These findings led to a design enhancement.

Full-coverage carbon-reinforced protective housing + wiring connector shield

Wiring Connector Shield covers the entire connector and reroutes existing wiring

TPU-printed integrated seal around the perimeter

Protects the module and both wiring connectors

Blocks moisture, splash, and condensation entry

OEM mounting location + hardware included
