SprinterArmor™ CPC Module Shield
Applicable to: 2019-2026 Model Years, both gas and diesel engines, Left & Right side steering wheel.
You park the van overnight, drive through heavy rain, or spill a drink inside the cabin — and suddenly the dashboard throws:
"DO NOT SHIFT GEARS"
Now the van is stuck.
In many cases, the root cause starts with moisture entering the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) module. Located low on the driver-side kick panel, the EIS handles key authorization, immobilizer communication, and critical startup functions.
But right next to it sits another extremely important module — the CPC (Central Powertrain Controller).
The CPC is one of the main communication hubs in the Sprinter platform, responsible for managing and routing critical CAN bus communication between drivetrain, transmission, engine, ABS, ESP, and multiple control units throughout the vehicle.
Together, the EIS and CPC form a unified gateway communication network for the van.

And just like the EIS, the CPC module is not waterproof in any way.
Water intrusion, condensation, or accidental spills can easily reach the module area and potentially cause corrosion, communication failures, no-start conditions, transmission lockout messages, and expensive repairs.

We see these failures in the shop — so we built a real solution.
CPC Module Shield
A precision-designed protective cover engineered specifically for the Sprinter platform to help shield the CPC module from water, moisture, and accidental liquid exposure.
CPC Shield features:
• OEM-style fitment
• Quick and clean installation
• Durable high-temperature material
• Service-friendly design
• Added protection for one of the most critical electronic modules in your van

Whether you use your Sprinter for work, travel, camping, or off-road adventures — electronics mounted low in the cabin remain vulnerable.
A single water event can leave you stranded and lead to thousands of dollars in repairs, programming, towing, and downtime.
The CPC Shield adds an extra layer of protection where Mercedes should have added one from the factory.

Recommendation
We highly recommend installing both EIS and CPC protective shields for maximum protection of fragile and expensive electronics. They are available as a bundle at a discounted price.

Unit arrived promptly, it takes longer to remove the footwell panel and the 2 cable ties than it takes to slide the cover in place.
Note, the cover "hides" one of the footwell panel clips, but I confirmed with Sprinter armor this is the planned case.
I was aware of the moisture issue with the EIS and CPC modules in the Mercedes Sprinter. Mercedes did not accept responsibility and their fix is a plastic bag that does not really fix the issue. My 2000 Sprinter 3500 is attached to an RV body and the moisture that is generated from weather, body heat, cooking and a propane furnace all collected on my front windshield. Just like a waterfall, the moisture would drip down the dash and onto the modules. For some this was causing a complete shutdown of their vehicle. Not wanting to be stranded for a simple correction, I installed the SprinterArmor module covers. As a piece of mind, it is a much easier thing to do than having to go into the Mercedes service department and spend thousands of dollars to get new modules and reprogram them for your vehicle.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. The moisture issues around the EIS and CPC modules on the Sprinter platform have been a real frustration for many owners, especially in RV applications where condensation is unavoidable. Your description of the moisture running down the windshield like a waterfall is exactly the kind of scenario these covers were designed to address.
We’re glad to hear that installing the SprinterArmor module covers has given you peace of mind. Avoiding unexpected shutdowns — and the costly dealership visits that often follow — is precisely why we created this solution. It means a lot to us that you trusted our product to protect such critical components on your 3500.
Thank you again for sharing your story and for helping other Sprinter owners understand the value of taking preventative steps. Your feedback truly helps the community.
